Indie rock party time. If I believed in dancing, I would dance to this.

In the future, the robots will look back on this as one of the few good albums made by humans.

For The Birds

Listen to 'Santa Maria' as loud as you possibly can. Borrow someone's PA. Make your eyes well up and your ears bleed.

Soul Coughing

Ruby Vroom

If you like drugs, you will like this. At least that's what I hear from people, who do drugs, but you should stay in school. I associate this music with being 18 and on a road trip to California. "Oh, but the strawberries will never taste so good again and the thighs of women have lost their clutch!"

The Verve

A Storm In Heaven

We were only freshmen... Oh shit wrong band. Before they sampled the capitalist machine that are the Rolling Stones and got caught, the Verve sampled cosmic gravy and served it up on a platter full of guitar biscuits. Apparently the drugs did work at the time, but you really should stay in school.

Rodan

Rusty

Backyard grilling. Croquet. Cold cans of beer. Cheeseburgers. But these cheeseburgers have been specially seasoned by Rodan to rock you until you see stars.

Person Pitch

Noah Lennox, a member of Animal Collective, has created something very intensely special. Trancy, spirit-bending, soul-quenching, all over the place sonically, from wavering druggy to tribal tight drum loops to thunder claps, skateboards, searing screams. Just really unbelievable. He played just a few shows in the US. One was at an old church in Philadelphia. I just returned home from it. Just fantastic. I didn’t want it to end. Audio/visual spectacular. This album has inspired me more than anything in the last ten years.

The Goldwax Story - Volume 1

Kent Soul is a UK record label that puts out a large number of soul compilations. I’ve bought up about 25 of them and listened the living hell out of them. They’re very similar to the Numero Group releases, but in my opinion have been remastered much better. Goldwax was a label out of Memphis. This is a collection of 45 released in the 1960s that demonstrate heart bleeding lovely southern vocals and terrific songwriting. Gems. The second volume is just as phenomenal.
